Ana Brandt International Newborn Certification -
Newborn Photography Practices and Safety Certification
founded by Ana Brandt
Ana Brandt has been a professional photographer for over 25 years and has led online photography education for more than 15 years. She has taught in 45 countries and continues to offer worldwide and in-person instruction.
In 2020, Ana Brandt launched The Baby Academy, featuring four-day intensive workshops designed to provide hands-on training to newborn photographers.
Recently, Ana has been conducting Baby Clinics, which are 4-hour sessions covering essential newborn photography skills, such as swaddling and posing with props and beanbags.
Ana has personally trained over 1,000 students in her Baby Clinics and thousands more through her single-day trainings and masterclasses around the world. Previously, students received physical certificates upon completing these courses.
With the global spread of COVID-19, education and training have become more crucial than ever. Clients and parents of newborns are now seeking qualified, certified photographers they can trust.
The Certification
Our new certification program is currently available only to those who have attended in-person workshops with Ana Brandt at any time. If you haven't participated in an in-person workshop with Ana Brandt, please stay tuned, as we are developing a certification program for those trained elsewhere. The certification process is verified through an online system where students must complete the following:
Best Practices Exam
Newborn Safety Exam
Videos of the photographer conducting a newborn session
Client testimonials
Peer testimonials
Videos of their working space
Verification of insurance, policies, and contracts
And more
The purpose of the certification is to verify the identity of the photographer, their working environment, business practices, and handling of newborn babies. This ensures we can confidently support their work in the industry. While many certifications or awards may focus on imagery, our program evaluates the entire business, the individual, and their role in the community.
Once achieved, the certification is maintained and verified. Advanced certification options may become available. There is an annual check-in included in the fee to ensure students remain in business and uphold best practices.
Certification can be revoked if evidence shows that the photographer is not adhering to proper procedures and business practices as outlined in the certification requirements.

How is this program different from others?
Currently this program is only open to those who have been trained by Ana Brandt in person OR are enrolled in a future workshop.
This program does not assess the quality of your work alone. Instead, it evaluates your business based on best practices, peer and client testimonials, safety guidelines, video testimonials for validation, and more. Unlike most certifications that focus solely on imagery, our program verifies your entire business and its practices.
Current Certified Photographers - while many in our program, the photographers listed on this page are the ones who have completed every process.
